As an artist I either do a piece to express myself or to learn a new technique or medium. I’m a mixed media artist and work in a variety of mediums: painting, ceramics, drawing, photography, a little bit of everything. I like learning about new intriguing, or adventurous places, people and items and introducing them into my artistic view for my work. With photography, I take photos of what I like—things that evoke strong feelings in myself. I see beauty in things that can be hard for others to see, and I like to share my vision so that others can see what I see. While I enjoy sharing my work, I don’t do art for others; I do it for myself.

I’m very attracted to black and white photography and the significance of light and shadows in them. I enjoy taking photos of places and things with a history that tell a story just by visually seeing the image, my favorites are graveyards, old brick buildings, dilapidated buildings, forgotten and broken objects and old trees that tell a story of how life has bent them right to the end. I find they can sometimes have more beauty in them than newer things. They’re more interesting and textural. I’ve been interested in the gothic and paranormal and that shows in my work. I’m an eclectic and complicated person and my work reveals that.
